FAQs
Installation & Upgrading
Is my CrossTrak data compatible with newer versions of the program?
Yes. When installing a CrossTrak program update your
data will be upgraded to the new version during the installation process,
providing your *old* data is present on the system during the installation process.
Can I copy or "Restore" my CrossTrak data to
a newer version of the program installed on a new computer or reformatted hard
drive?
No. CrossTrak will only recognize and upgrade data
from an older version if it is present on the system DURING the upgrade/installation process.
You can not use CrossTrak's Restore Database utility or copy the Userdata folder
between different versions of the program.
Contact
us to learn how to do this manually.
Exception: In Version 2.9+,
the Restore Web Backup utility may be used to restore data from a
previous version.
I can't install
CrossTrak after downloading the .exe file. What am I doing wrong?
Installshield (the program CrossTrak uses to install itself on your
computer) may be having problems with a file(s) located in the same
directory as the program file you downloaded from the CrossTrak website. Try
removing all other files from your Temp directory (or whatever folder you
downloaded the crosstrak.exe file to) or move the downloaded file to its own directory,
then try the installation again.
I want to
upgrade from the Freeware Edition (v1.x - v2.1) to the Premium Edition (v2.5+). How do I copy my
data to the new program?
During the upgrade/installation process,
CrossTrak will automatically recognize and upgrade your data for the new
version, providing the *old* program and data are still present on the
system during the
upgrade/installation process. Do NOT uninstall the *old* program or move your data files!
How do I access software updates and
technical support after my one-year Premium Edition membership expires?
Membership is no longer required - CrossTrak is now free.

Program Setup
How do I enter my
birth date quickly without scrolling month by month?
Click on the month or year in the title bar of the pop up
calendar to quickly select the desired month or year.
The bottom of the Setup screen is not visible and the metric/non-metric units
selection box is hidden. What do I do?
This is likely due to your system's font settings or Windows theme. Try
changing your system's font settings from large font to small font
(or normal font) in the Advanced Settings for your video driver (Start >
Settings > Control Panel > Display > Advanced). If your system is already set
to
small fonts, or if the change doesn't solve the problem, try changing your
Windows theme.
Why do I get an error when attempting to leave the Setup screen in v2.5+?
If you receive an error such as "Invalid format used in the HR Zones setup. Reset to default values?",
check that the heart rate zone settings (Setup > Body tab) do not overlap or include spaces.
Correct format: Zone 1 = 60-120, Zone 2
= 121-150, etc.
Incorrect format: Zone 1 = 60-120, Zone 2 = 120 -150, etc.
Why do I get an error when attempting to leave the Setup screen in v2.9+?
If you receive errors such as "Invalid format used in the HR Zones setup. Reset to default values?"
or "Invalid format used in the Power
Zones setup. Reset to default values?", check that the heart rate zone and
power zone settings (Setup > Body tab) do not overlap or include spaces, and
that Zone 1 starts with a number greater than zero.
Correct format: Zone 1 = 60-120, Zone 2
= 121-150, etc.
Incorrect format: Zone 1 = 60-120, Zone 2 = 120 -150, etc.

Downloadable Devices
Why can't I import data into CrossTrak from the Polar RS200, CS200 or F6
HRMs?
The Polar RS200, CS200 and F6 HRMs are only compatible with Polar's
web-based log using their "weblink" feature. They are not currently compatible
with CrossTrak's PC-based software.
How do I upload data to CrossTrak from my FitSense FS-1 running speedometer?
For tips on using the FS-1 with CrossTrak, please click
here.
I can't download data from my Acumen TZ Max
50/100 (using v2.03-2.06). What's wrong?
CrossTrak v2.03-2.06 is not compatible with *newer* Acumen models
(most year 2000+ models). Version 2.1+ (Acumen OEM
Edition) and version 2.5+ are compatible with ALL
downloadable Acumen HRMs. Version 2.9.5+ is also compatible with the Acumen USB interface.
How do I import data from files saved using
the Acumen software supplied with my Acumen TZ Max 50/100?
This is currently not possible.
I can't download data from my Polar Coach HRM.
The program asks me to select a file after clicking Import. Shouldn't it
download data directly from the watch?
Check that your HRM is correctly selected in Setup. In v2.0.6 -
v2.6.0 choose
Polar Coach. In v2.8+ select Polar - All Others as
the monitor type and Soniclink as the Interface type. In v2.9+ select Polar
Coach as
the monitor type and Soniclink as the Interface type.
How do I import data from files saved using
the PC Coach software supplied with my Polar Coach HRM?
This is currently not possible.
When attempting to download data from my
Polar Coach HRM, the hourglass appears, but nothing happens and I have
to press Ctrl-Alt-Del to stop the process. What do I do?
The Soniclink method of data transfer may be affected by the
sensitivity of your computer’s microphone as well as outside noise (even the
noise of your computer's hard drive). If you experience consistent problems with
the import, try experimenting with your microphone settings and recording levels
(Start > Settings > Control Panel...) and try holding the watch different
distances from the microphone.
Attempting to download data directly from my
Polar Vantage NV into CrossTrak using the Advantage interface produces errors or
inconsistent results (v2.8+). What am I doing wrong?
Downloading data from the Vantage NV can be problematic -- even when
using the software supplied by Polar. Check that your HRM, interface and port
are correctly selected in Setup. Choose Polar Vantage NV as the
monitor type (the Advantage interface will be selected automatically) and check
that the selected port is not being used by another program or device
(i.e. Palm Pilot). Try disconnecting/reconnecting the interface and re-opening
CrossTrak until the download works.
I am unable to download from my Polar
S-Series HRM into CrossTrak (v2.8+) using the USB IR Interface. What's
wrong?
If you are using the USB IR Interface, you may need to run the polarusb.exe file located in the CrossTrak directory (C:\Program Files\H&M Riley
Consulting, Ltd\CrossTrak). From the resulting USB directory, run the usbsetup.exe file. This program will install the required USB drivers
for the Polar IR Interface.
Note: You should unplug your USB interface
while installing the drivers.
Why do I get a "List Index out of bounds
(0)" error message when attempting to Attach / Override HRM / Session data
to an existing workout?
This bug was present in v2.9.5 only. It is fixed in v2.9.5a and
later versions. Please upgrade if you have v2.9.5 installed.
How do I combine Polar HRM data recorded as two separate exercises into
one workout in CrossTrak?
If, for example, you switch your Polar HRM to the watch mode during a
workout and then restart the measure mode again, you will end up with two
separate exercises saved on the watch and two separate workouts when you import
the data into CrossTrak.
If you wish to combine the HR data into one workout in CrossTrak, do the
following:
- Download both exercises from the watch using the Polar software
supplied with your monitor.
- Follow the procedure described on the Polar website for combining
exercise data. You should find it
here, or search for "merge" in the
support area of the
Polar website.
- Import the resulting "combined" .hrm file into CrossTrak. You will
need to select Polar HRM Files in Setup and enter the Path
to the file.

Reports
Why do power-related reports in v2.9+ (Ave
Power vs. Date, Time in Power Zones, etc.) appear blank or ignore some data even
though imported power data is present in CrossTrak for the selected date range?
If power data was imported using v2.8 (prior to upgrading to
v2.9+), find each workout with power data attached, open the HRM/Session Editor
(right-click, Edit HRM/Session data) and re-calculate the zones (Calc
Zones, OK). Power data from these workouts should now be available
for power-related reports.
Note: This procedure is not
necessary for workouts imported while using v2.9+.
How do I view reports in PDF format (v2.9+)?
Select PDF as the report output format (Setup,
Reports / Graphs). Adobe Acrobat Reader must be installed on your system to
view reports in PDF format. You can download it
here.
Reports do not appear correctly on my monitor
(or at all) or data appears to be missing from them. What do I do?
To view reports on your monitor, CrossTrak requires that a
printer driver be installed on your system. A printer does not actually need to be connected to
the system to view reports, but a printer driver must be installed. To install a
printer driver, download one from a website such as
HP.

CoachConnect
Do the athlete and
coach have to use the same version of CrossTrak?
Coaches using v2.9+ may download and view data
from athletes using any other version of CrossTrak. For Coaches using older
versions of CrossTrak (pre-v2.9), athletes and coaches must be using the same version of CrossTrak to share data using CoachConnect.
Does my coach need to be online when I send my data?
No. Athlete data is sent to the CrossTrak website and stored there. Your coach can access the data at any time.
Who can view the data I send to the CrossTrak website?
Only the coach
you select when updating can view your data.
How do I send data to my coach using CoachConnect?
The process for using CoachConnect is described in the program's online
Help file, in the CrossTrak "TOUR" (see link on the CrossTrak home page)
and
here.
How much of my training data can my coach view using CoachConnect?
As
much as you wish! Your data within the selected date range will appear in the coaches' CrossTrak program the same as if you had entered it in his/her actual computer. This includes any data you may have imported
from devices.
Is there any fee for using CoachConnect? How often can I update my coach?
CoachConnect is a FREE
service available to all CrossTrak users. There is no limit to how often you may update your coach.
How do I download data from my athletes using CoachConnect?
The process for using CoachConnect is described in the program's online
Help file, in the CrossTrak "TOUR" (see link on the CrossTrak home page)
and
here.
As a coach, do I need to "Insert" athletes in my CrossTrak program before I download their data?
No. CrossTrak adds all athlete downloads as "-NEW"
athletes to your program -- even if they already exist in your program. You may
delete the *old* athlete files after confirming that the data transfer was
successful and delete the "-NEW" portion of their name to distinguish the data from that of future downloads.
How long will it take to upload or download an athlete's data?
This depends on the amount of data
being transferred and the speed of the internet connection. (Ex. 6 months
of daily workout data using a 28.8 modem should take about 10-20 seconds).
How many athletes can I coach using CoachConnect?
As many as you wish... You may download data for all your athletes at once or one athlete at a time.
